Our Georgia – Free Democrats ((グルジア語:ჩვენი საქართველო - თავისუფალი დემოკრატები), ''ch’veni Sak’art’velo - t’avisup’ali demokratebi'') is a political party in Georgia chaired by Irakli Alasania; it was founded on 16 July 2009.〔http://www.rferl.org/content/Georgian_Opposition_Leader_Alasani_Forms_New_Party/1779224.html〕 The party was in opposition to the government led by Mikheil Saakashvili and his United National Movement. For the 2012 elections, it was part of the Georgian Dream alliance that won the election against United National Movement. However the party left the governing coalition on 5th November 2014.〔http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-11-04/georgian-coalition-at-risk-after-defense-minister-fired.html〕 Independent Democrats support a presidential republic with strong parliament and an independent judicial system and a wide range of authorized local authorities. The economic objectives of a competitive, free-market economy and the establishment of sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction, job creation and social protection systems. To this end, the parties should consider strengthening the institutions of private property and property rights, privacy, and personal initiative to promote healthy competition.
